Special Giving Opportunities

Many of us look forward to spending time with family, enjoying warm traditions, and the comfort of home around the holidays. For the young people at The William George Agency, this season can feel very different. Many youth are unable to return home for the holidays—some because their home is no longer a safe place, while others have no home to return to.

Because of this, we work with great intention to make the holidays at WGA feel meaningful and filled with the same sense of belonging every child deserves. Each year, our youth enjoy a special holiday meal at a local restaurant —a tradition that provides them with an experience outside the campus that feels celebratory, dignified, and deeply meaningful. We also ensure that every young person receives a personal gift—not just any gift, but something they truly wanted, something that reminds them that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

These moments matter. For many of our youth, it is the first time they have experienced a holiday centered around joy rather than hardship.  Your generosity makes this possible.

During a season meant for giving and gratitude, we hope you will consider making a gift to help ensure the young people in our care feel the warmth, dignity, and hope of the holidays. A gift of $1000 helps provide holiday meals and gifts for entire cottage of young people;  donations of any size are welcome.

WGA’s farm plays a vital role in offering therapeutic and educational opportunities for its residents. Adding a new barn structure will enhance the farm’s capacity to house existing and new animals that can aid in a young person’s developmental gains and improve health and wellness. The desire is to construct a durable and weather-resistant steel barn. In addition to enhancing therapy opportunities, such a structure will provide improved animal care and housing and another site on campus for educational integration.

From time to time, opportunities arise for in-kind donations of items. Examples: tools (e.g., for the automotive shop and other vocational sites), equine-related materials (e.g., helmets, riding boots), recreational equipment (e.g., bicycles, skateboards, fishing poles, work out machines), musical equipment (e.g., left-handed guitar,  new drum heads for snare and toms), and agricultural materials (e.g., seeds, eggs, equipment). To learn about current needs and opportunities, please email our Development office.

WGA is actively seeking donations to help outfit buildings around campus that do not currently have back-up generators. Generators will ensure seamless service in the event of a power outage.

Below is a list of current volunteer opportunities with The William George Agency.

  • Host a Meet & Greet Gathering with WGA staff at your home or in the community
  • Invite WGA leadership to give a luncheon presentation at your workplace
  • Share your talent (e.g., perform a recital for youth, teach a special skill, assist our historian)

If you are interested in any of the options above, please contact our Development office.
