Remembering Board Member Tom Finn

With deep sadness, we share the passing of Tom Finn, a long-serving and deeply dedicated member of the WGA family. Tom passed away peacefully January 3, 2025, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of commitment and service to our Agency.

Tom’s connection to WGA (formerly The George Junior Republic) was deeply personal. He was a former resident of our program, and his experiences here helped shape the man he became. Tom went on to build a successful career in banking, demonstrating the resilience and determination that defined his life.

Tom joined the Board of Directors in 1983, where he served with unwavering dedication for decades. He held numerous leadership roles, including Chairman of the Board, a position he held until 2019. His leadership was instrumental in guiding the Agency through significant milestones, always with a steadfast focus on our mission to transform the lives of young people.

In addition to his work with WGA, Tom also served for many years on the Board of Directors of the GJR Union Free School District, where he held roles as Vice President and President. His commitment to improving educational opportunities for youth at WGA was a reflection of his belief in the importance of providing every young person with the chance to succeed.

Tom’s dedication to WGA was evident in the countless hours he devoted to supporting our mission. He believed in the work we do and consistently encouraged others to stay focused on the needs of the youth we serve. His thoughtful leadership and advocacy have left a lasting impact on our organization.

We send our deepest condolences to Tom’s family during this difficult time.

A memorial celebration of his life is planned for the spring. To join in celebrating Tom’s life and contributions now, memorial gifts may be made online here. Checks made out to The William George Agency for Children’s Services with Finn Memorial Gift Fund in the memo line can be mailed to:
