Special Giving Opportunities
Annual Holiday Cottage Appeal
The holidays are a seasonal experience, rich in family and cultural traditions and a source of great joy for many. Unfortunately for young people who have histories of emotional and physical trauma, the holidays can also be a time of turmoil, triggering moments of conflict and unpleasant memories. Many experience increased stress, anxiety, and feelings of sadness, grief and loss. While some youth at WGA will be at home with their families for the holidays (when it is safe for them to be there), others have no homes to which they may go, or are sadly unwanted.
It is for all these young people that a special Holiday Cottage Appeal is made during the holiday season each year. A gift of any size is welcome; a recommended gift of $1,000 will help make the campus festive and provide a special gift and meal over the holidays for the residents of one cottage.
Gifts In-Kind
From time to time, opportunities arise for in-kind donations of items. Examples: tools (e.g., for the automotive shop and other vocational sites), equine-related materials (e.g., helmets, riding boots), recreational equipment (e.g., bicycles, skateboards, fishing poles, work out machines), musical equipment (e.g., left-handed guitar, new drum heads for snare and toms), and agricultural materials (e.g., seeds, eggs, equipment). To learn about current needs and opportunities, please email our Development office.
Generators
WGA is actively seeking donations to help outfit buildings around campus that do not currently have back-up generators. Generators will ensure seamless service in the event of a power outage.
Volunteering
Below is a list of current volunteer opportunities with The William George Agency.
- Host a Meet & Greet Gathering with WGA staff at your home or in the community
- Invite WGA leadership to give a luncheon presentation at your workplace
- Share your talent (e.g., perform a recital for youth, teach a special skill, assist our historian)
If you are interested in any of the options above, please contact our Development office.
Give Later
Making a provision in your will to support WGA will help us carry-out our mission to provide a safe and caring residential environment for at-risk youth for generations to come. Additionally, charitable gifts made by bequest are not taxed as part of your estate, and you can bequeath a fixed amount of money (outright gift), a percentage of your estate (known as a residual bequest) or specific property (including real estate, stocks and investments).
