Having new foals at the WGA Equine barn offers uni Having new foals at the WGA Equine barn offers unique opportunities for our residents. These days, very few people have the chance to handle young horses let alone have the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to teach a foal to be a good “equine citizen”. Mulan was born on May 10th and has been handled by our equine staff to the point where we are satisfied that our equine vocational students are ready to start hands on learning by participating in leading Mulan and Frosty from their night-time accommodations (in their stall) to their daily turn-out. While the lessons learned may look like they are equine specific, in reality there are a lot of life lessons involved including empathy, responsibility, confidence and perseverance. #wgaforchildren #wgaequine #carefirst #equineassistedlearning #raisingmulan #gjrmulankhan

This award recognizes Ian's exceptional efforts in carrying out the Mission, Vision and Values of the Agency. “Ian is always available, flexible, caring, professional when working with residents, families and other staff members. He genuinely cares about positive outcomes for the residents and devotes his time and energy to those efforts. Whether facilitating visits for families outside of his normal hours, or making sure that county paperwork is completed (sometimes at a moment's notice), or sharing his personal books with a resident because it is the only thing that morivates him, Ian always puts the needs of his residents at the forefront.” "Ian is an absolute blessing to the the agency. He took the role of case planner in a challenging cottage only to be moved to another challenging cottage. Ian goes above and beyond for the youth he serves as well as for his team and the agency. He is a true exmple of a team player. Working along side him I never have to double check or doubt that certain tasks will be carried out to a high standard. I cannot think of anyone else who is more deserving of this recognition that Ian Nevans." "I am very impressed with Mr. Nevans’ work ethic. He has come into a new cottage and worked very hard to build relationships with the youth and staff. He works long hours, to make sure the cottage is taken care of and his work is complete. Mr. Nevans works on the floor often to support his team. He is amazing at keeping all members of the team updated, he seeks support and guidance when necessary. We are delighted to announce that the George Junio We are delighted to announce that the George Junior Republic UFSD has been selected to receive a Mathical Book Prize Collection Development Award to expand the library’s fiction and nonfiction books to encourage kids to discover a love of mathematics. The school is one of 25 libraries in K-12 Title I schools nationwide to be presented with this $700 grant to purchase award-winning titles from the Mathical Book Prize list. The grant is awarded by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute - MSRI in partnership with School Library Journal. The awards are made possible with generous funding from the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation. #mathicalbooks
